What is fine silver?
Fine silver is a very pure form of silver. This means it is a lot softer than sterling silver and therefore is easily shaped and wrapped. Fine silver is so versatile it can even be used to crochet and knit.
When jewellery designer Avril Manderson created the Fresh Fleeces sheep in 2011 she was drawn to working with fine silver because of these unique qualities. She wanted to use a precious metal that would give her the flexibility to recreate the swirls and loops that sheep have in their coats.
And so Fresh Fleeces was born! We still make all our sheep fleeces entirely by hand and so each animal really is one of a kind. You can even gently stroke the fleeces and the range is a tactile feast for the senses.
Fine silver is also more resistant to tarnishing than sterling silver, so your sheep jewellery will only need a very occasional gentle rub with a polishing cloth to keep it looking good as new.
